Firefighters and police officers to bowl for Big Brothers Big Sisters

Date: 5/4/2009

SPRINGFIELD - The "Cuffs & Hoses" Law Enforcement and Firefighters Challenge will be taking place May 15 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at AMF Airway Lanes in Springfield.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hampden County (BBBSHC) is gearing up for the "Cuffs & Hoses" Challenge. Co-Chairs Sheriff Michael J. Ashe Jr. and Commissioner William J. Fitchet and Honorary Co-Chair Mark Texeira of the Westfield Fire Department have teamed up to make the event a success.

Modeled after Bowl for Kids' Sake, "Cuffs & Hoses" is a fundraising event specially created for law enforcement professionals and firefighters. With DJ St. Germain Investment Management on board as this year's Presenting Sponsor, the event is well on its way to setting a new fundraising record.

Currently, 29 teams representing the Sheriff's Department, the Springfield Police Department and Chicopee, Westfield and Springfield fire departments are registered. Individuals on these teams are seeking donations to support the local Big Brothers Big Sisters program, which benefits over 300 children in Hampden County.

The event co-chairs are encouraging individuals and local businesses to support or honor a local law enforcement team or participant by making a donation.
