Ha-Ha Sisterhood

The Ha-Ha Sisterhood perform a family-friendly improvised comedy show Jan. 20, at 7 p.m. at the UU Meetinghouse, 121 North Pleasant Street, Amherst to benefit North Star Self-Directing Learning for Teens. Tickets are $5-10 (sliding scale) with $20 maximum per family. There will also be a bake sale to benefit North Star teens traveling to Costa Rica.

220TH ANNIVERSARY OF SHAYS' REBELLION

Springfield Armory National Historic Site and Springfield Technical Community College (STCC) invite you to the first annual Shays Symposium: Reconsidering the Debt: Scholars Re-Visit Shays' Rebellion, on Jan. 27 and 28. Armory historian, Richard Colton, will present his paper; "Unwilling to Stain the Land," at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday. The paper examines the specific military encounter at Springfield Arsenal. At 3:45 p.m., join Richard for a fascinating tour of the historic grounds where Shays' men were fired upon by cannon. Superintendent, Michael Ouijano, remarked about the collaboration with STCC, "The National Park Service is delighted to work with STCC to celebrate and elevate this regionally significant, yet nationally little known of event, that influenced the development of our constitutional form of government." The symposium is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Saturday, and 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Sunday, with a reception from 6 - 8 p.m. on Saturday. Registration includes an information packet and meals.
