Mozdzanowski honored for excellence in teaching by the PVCS

Springfield Pioneer Valley Christian School (PVCS) on 965 Plumtree Rd. is pleased to announce that Nina Mozdzanowski has been awarded a 2007-08 Pioneer Valley Excellence in Teaching Award, having received numerous nominations from her co-workers.

The award comes with a $100 gift for the classroom, $500 for the teacher's personal use, an engraved plaque, two tickets for the celebration dinner at the Log Cabin in Holyoke, a membership at the local YMCA, a congratulatory letter from Gov. Deval Patrick, an invitation to participate in a technology lab course at WGBY Channel 57 and a corsage compliments of Big Y.

The Irene E. & George A. Davis Foundation, the Harold Grinspoon Charitable Foundation, the Log Cabin Banquet & Meeting House, the Mass Mutual financial Group, the Southworth Paper Company, the Springfield Republican, WGBY Channel 57, Channel 40, Channel 22, Meyers Bros. & Kalicka, STCU Credit Union, Big Y and the local YMCAs are sponsors of this program. Since the inception of this program six years ago, over 700 educators in 38 school communities have been recognized and honored.

Mozdzanowski has been teaching high school English and Spanish at PVCS for 15 years after having taught English for two years in New York State. She received a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts in 1986 and a M.A. from Cambridge College in 2007. Mozdzanowski is certified in high school English by the State of Massachusetts and by the Association of Christian Schools International.

Mozdzanowski will be honored at a banquet at the Log Cabin in Holyoke on May 8 at 6 p.m.
