OSV throwing series of Harvest Parties

Date: 10/3/2011

STURBRIDGE — Old Sturbridge Village (OSV) is adding a series of Friday night Harvest Parties to its schedule of fall events this year.

Set for 6 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 7, and 14, the events will include horse-drawn hayrides, a beer garden, bonfires, live music, storytelling, and a “Waterfire” display on the Village Mill Pond.

In addition to horse-drawn hayrides around the Common and Celtic storytelling around the bonfire, visitors will also be able to witness “Waterfire” on the Mill Pond, a unique display of fireballs and plumes rising up from the OSV Mill Pond, designed by the OSV facilities staff.

Musical entertainment will include traditional Irish music by Full Gael, at each of the three Harvest Parties.

Hickory Strings will perform acoustic music on the banjo, mandolin, and bass on Oct. 14, and traditional brass quintet, Quintebrass, will perform on Oct. 7.

Adult visitors can visit the Beer Garden, featuring craft beer selections from Wachusett Brewing Company, known for their popular Wachusett Blueberry and Wachusett Country Ale offerings.

Located in Westminster, Wachusett Brewing is one of the largest craft breweries in the area, regularly producing 14 different varieties of beer throughout the year.

Food tents will also be selling various items throughout the village.

Tickets are available in advance or at the door for $12 ($10 for OSV members.) For information, call 800-SEE-1830 or visit www.osv.org.
