OPEN HOUSE

The Grammar School at Somersville, 41 School Street, Somers, Conn., will host an Open House on Oct. 17 at 10 am.

Families who are interested in learning more about The Grammar School are invited to attend the Open House. As a special offering for those in attendance, guest children's author/illustrator Anita Riggio will be presenting a seasonally appropriate reading and activity from her popular story "Beware the Brindlebeast."

Riggio will be offering two sessions of her program in conjunction with tours and meeting with staff and faculty from The Grammar School. Reservations are recommended. To register, please call the school office at 860-749-5933.



BEAD LEAGUE

In the movie, "The Graduate," Benjamin Braddock was given some advice: "Just one word plastics."

Come to the next WNEBL meeting on Oct. 18 and learn how "retro" plastic has become the newest fad, and make a piece of jewelry during our interactive project! In addition, members of WNEBL will take part in a bead swap. Everyone is encouraged to bring beads to exchange with their bead colleagues.

The meeting is free to WNEBL members and non-members are welcome to see what this organization is all about with a $5 meeting fee. The meeting will start at 5 p.m., and will take place at Colorful Creations Bead Company, 37 Harkness Ave., East Longmeadow.
