Santa Claus to visit Holyoke Merry-Go-Round as part of Christmas in July Celebration

Date: 7/13/2009

HOLYOKE The sounds of "Ho, Ho, Ho" will be heard over the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round's band organ on July 25, when Santa Claus visits the antique carousel to meet with all good little boys and girls as part of the attraction's annual Christmas in July celebration.

"Santa has been visiting our happiness machine since we opened our doors at Heritage State Park, and when he comes down from the North Pole to visit Holyoke and enjoy our warm summer weather, he usually wears his summer work outfit, including a red pair of shorts, made especially for him by Mrs. Claus," said Angela Wright, coordinator of the Holyoke Merry-Go-Round.

Santa will arrive at the Merry-Go-Round at 12:30 p.m. and visit with all "good little boys and girls" until 3:30 p.m.

Merry-Go-Round rides are $1. There is no admission charge to attend the event.

The Holyoke Merry-Go-Round is located at Heritage State Park on 221 Appleton St. The park offers family-oriented cultural and recreational programs. The eight-acre site contains the Park Visitor's Center, Holyoke Children's Museum and Volleyball Hall of Fame.
