Families invited to skate with Santa

SPRINGFIELD On Dec.16 from 7 to 9 p.m., families will be able to skate with Santa, be entertained by the Shriner's Clowns and experience Bright Nights at Forest Park at a discounted Rate. Forest Park's Cyr Arena will host the open skate.

Admission will be free with a new children's book which will be donated to Springfield Shriners Hospital for Children. When the skates come off, visitors can then experience Bright Nights at Forest Park at a discounted rate of $10 per vehicle. Entrance for "Skating with Santa" will be at the Trafton Road Entrance for Cyr Arena.

Facility Management Company (FMC) will also donate skate rental fees to the Springfield Shriner's Hospital.

"Skating with Santa" is presented by the Spirit of Springfield, Springfield Park's Division and FMC.

Bright Nights at Forest Park opened for its 12th season on November 22 and operates Wednesday through Sunday until December 10.

Beginning Dec. 13, the lights will be lit nightly through Jan. 1. Gates open at 5 p.m. for buses and 6 p.m. for cars.

Admission is $12 per vehicle Monday through Thursday and $15 per vehicle Friday through Sunday and holidays. Entry fee for buses (seating capacity of 31+) is $150 and $70 for mini buses (seating capacity of 17 30).
