The Zoo in Forest Park celebrates Halloween with 'Spooky Safari'

Date: 10/19/2009

SPRINGFIELD Weather permitting, the Zoo at Forest Park's "Spooky Safari" will take place Oct. 22, 23 and 24 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Wear your favorite Halloween costume while you "trick or treat" around the zoo. For a "spooktacular" time, bring your flashlight, a sense of adventure and learn about nocturnal animals. Have a snack and something hot to drink while you enjoy the night!

The event is free to members and children under age one. For non-members, the cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children ages five to 12, and $2 for children ages one to four.

The Zoo in Forest Park & Education Center is a not for profit organization located in beautiful Forest Park in Springfield. We have approximately 175 animals from endangered to exotic including ring tailed lemurs and cougars and last year hosted over 63,000 visitors and over 7,000 children on school sponsored field trips.

The zoo's exhibits are themed around barnyard, backyard and beyond. In our barnyard area, our pot bellied pigs are a visitor favorite, in our backyard area, you'll enjoy the antics of our two raccoons and in one of our beyond exhibits, you'll see Katunga, our very handsome spotted leopard.
