Visit the Trolley Museum during Railfan Weekend in June

The Connecticut Trolley Museum has announced its June Railfan Weekend scheduled for June 10 and 11. Railfan Weekend 2006 will showcase the history of the electric rail transportation in Connecticut, from the 19th century streetcars to the futuristic people mover system originally built for Bradley International Airport.

Visitors will be able to climb aboard locomotives, visit the car maintenance shop and storage barns, ride aboard a freight/passenger train, and ride unique trolleys. There will be static displays of many unique pieces of equipment and guided tours of the grounds. Visitors will be able to see displays in the Visitor Center and the Fire Museum. See a 107-year-old sweeper car and a beautifully restored open car from Fair Haven, and ride aboard the last open trolley car to run in commercial operation in the U.S.

Railfan Weekend 2006 will be held rain or shine on June 10 and 11. Hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission for this event will be $10 for adults, $8 for seniors (62+), $6 for youth (two-12); and free for children under two. All children will receive a free wooden train whistle with admission. Some activities require an extra fare.

Be sure to arrive early in the day so that you will be able to see everything that you are interested in.
