WESTFIELD — The YMCA of Greater Westfield will offer the following programs.

A series of new baseball clinics will take place during April vacation week this spring. Players will learn, practice and improve all their baseball skills just before the start of the season.

This clinic will be conducted by expert coaches from the Simsbury Sports Academy on April 17, 18 and 19 (school vacation week) from 9 a.m. to noon.

The YMCA will also offer Tee-ball and Coaches Pitch League this spring. These two popular, active spring programs are designed to help boys and girls ages 4 to 5 and 6 to 7 have fun learning the fundamentals and teamwork of baseball and softball.

Both programs progress in age appropriate manner through organized instructions, practices and games on eight Saturday mornings from April 21 to June 9.

The Tekoa Country Club will be the site of the YMCA of Greater Westfield's seventh spring season of golf.

The Monday late afternoon sessions from April 30 to May 21 are for boys and girls ages 8 to 12.

They are sure to enjoy learning and experiencing the increasingly popular life-time sport of golf. Anyone with little or no experience, or with intermediate experience, will have fun with the action on the course during this program.

Registrations are being accepted daily at the Y front desk.

The YMCA is starting a new Middle School Golf League this year. The program will provide golfers entering seventh and eighth grade with the opportunity to enjoy the friendly competition that this league will offer.

The staff promises to give semi-experienced golfers the freedom to play independently, while providing supervision and the chance to receive assistance with skills and course etiquette if requested or as needed.

Spring tennis clinics are being offered by the YMCA for the third year this year. The Tuesday late afternoon sessions will be held from May 1 to May 22 at the newly renovated courts at Stanley Park.

Boys and girls ages 8 to 12 will learn the basic and intermediate fundamentals through enjoyable, active instructional sessions that will include challenging drills, contests and on the court games.

Serious basketball players will be happy to hear about the newest YMCA of Greater Westfield program designed for athletes who want to stay prepared for their winter season year-round: the off-season basketball academy. If you are entering grades 7 to 12 and are highly motivated to play competitively, this series of once or twice a month sessions is for you!

Enthusiastic, experienced coaches from local colleges and successful area high schools will help players (in separate groups) to actively focus on conditioning, skill maintenance, development of mental and emotional strengths, reinforcement of academics, trips to college campuses, and more!

Locations, dates, times and further details will vary throughout the 10 sessions from April 14 to October.

Registrations for all of the aforementioned programs are being accepted daily at the Y front desk.
