Exciting twists, turns and detours at Red Cross "Amazing Race"
Modeled after the popular television series "The Amazing Race," the Pioneer Valley Chapter's version is sure to have some exciting twists, roadblocks and detours all in support of the Chapter's local disaster services work.
The event will take place on Oct. 14 and is presented by Chicopee Savings Charitable Foundation with KIX 97.9 as media partner.
Teams of four are invited to enter to take part in a variety of physical and mental challenges. Each team will move from challenge to challenge via their own pre-decorated vehicle. This vehicle may be a company vehicle with your logos or it may be owned by one of the team members and decorated to reflect your business. Prizes will be awarded in various categories for vehicle decoration.
Safety is of the utmost concern to the Red Cross, and as such, points will not be tallied based on speed. An emphasis will be placed on safety and rules of the road. Teams will accumulate points to achieve victory by accumulating points for quickly completing their challenges, tasks, physical races, and mental puzzles.
The event will begin promptly at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 14 at Red Cross Chapter Headquarters at 506 Cottage St., Springfield and end at Camp Massasoit at Springfield College's East Campus with a BBQ and entertainment provided by Ozzie Williams and the Marion St. Band.
Each team will be comprised of four people. There are no gender restrictions or requirements. Teams will work together to complete challenges, solve clues to proceed to the next challenge, and accrue points to achieve victory. The team participation fee is a donation of just $500 per 4-person team and includes a variety of benefits. Additional information and registration forms are available at www.redcrosspioneervalley.org, or by calling 413-737-4306, ext. 911.
The goal of the Amazing Red Race is to promote a spirit of camaraderie and push participants to their FUN zone, all while raising important funds in support of the American Red Cross Pioneer Valley Chapter.
