"I wanted to hold an event where women in any stage of pregnancy could connect and learn about various ways to support their pregnancy, including prenatal yoga," Suzie Goldstein, co-owner of River Valley, said. "Prenatal yoga is a powerful tool during pregnancy. In class we prepare the body and mind for the physical, emotional, and mental demands of labor, while addressing all the changes that are happening in the present. My class is a place where women can tune out the rest of the world and tune in to baby and mom."
Prenatal Yoga has been proven to improve balance, both physical and emotional, energy, build strength, reduce stress, and it prepares women to give birth safely and peacefully, while building the confidence to face any challenges that may arise, Goldstein said. Prenatal Yoga will be offered on Thursdays at 4 p.m. and Sundays at 6 p.m., beginning May 16. Prenatal class packages will be on sale during the open house event.
Goldstein is a certified prenatal instructor and teaches alignment-based yoga, heavily influenced by the hatha yoga tradition of B.K.S. Iyengar. Her strong interest in therapeutics and mediation transforms each class into a unique blend of movement, healing and restoration.
The River Valley Yoga Center is focused on yoga as a therapeutic tool to improve structural strength, flexibility, balance and an overall feeling of good health.
