Friends of the Chicopee Public Library host annual concert
Date: 11/14/2014
CHICOPEE – John Michon, president of
The Friends of the Chicopee Public Library, said the name of this year’s benefit concert says it all.
“We call it ‘Enjoy an Evening of Fabulous Music,’” he told
Reminder Publications.
The Friends’ annual fundraising concert will help the library fund special programs and address items that are on the library’s “wish list,” he explained.
In past years the concert proceeds have underwritten a reading program at the library as well as free passes to area museums, Michon explained.
This year will mark an important first, he noted. The bands of both
Chicopee High School and
Chicopee Comprehensive High School will open the concert with “inspirational crowd-pleasing numbers.”
Sarah Michel, known as “
Sarah the Fiddler,” will then follow with her two accompanists Keith DaSilva on drums and Joseph Dziok (of Chicopee) on piano. According to her website, her music incorporates elements of classical, bluegrass and Celtic music.
The show will conclude with multi-Grammy nominated
Lenny Gomulka and the Chicago Push. Gomulka and his band have played before at the event, Michon said.
The concert will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Chicopee High School Auditorium. Tickets only $15 and are available at
Chicopee Public Library on Front Street. They will also be available at the door for $18.
