Bay Path College receives rebate for energy efficient renovations

Bay Path College was recently recognized for energy efficient practices and efforts in its newly renovated Carr Hall with a rebate/incentive check of $43,464 from Western Massachusetts Electric Company (WMECO).

The check was presented by WMECO representatives Denise Vogel, Manager, Customer Operations, and Elizabeth Belliveau, Account Executive, to Bay Path President Carol A. Leary and Vice President for Finance and Administrative Services, Michael J. Giampietro.

In renovating Carr Hall, Bay Path worked with WMECO to ensure all possible energy conservation measures were achieved, following the guidelines of an "Energy Efficient Services" program. The installation of energy efficient equipment included an air cooled chiller, several premium efficiency motors, lighting, and an energy management system.

These measures are expected to save 101,000 kilowatts annually.

"Carr Hall is just one of the ways that Bay Path is putting environmentally sound practices into place," said Giampietro. "WMECO has partnered with Bay Path to evaluate and assist in implementing energy efficient alternatives that will in the long run help us reduce operating costs and conserve energy resources."
