Historical Society announces dedication ceremony for gift

LONGMEADOW The Longmeadow Historical Society is pleased to announce the dedication ceremony for the presentation of a new garden bench for the Historical Society garden.

The Longmeadow Cooperative Gardeners have made the generous gift of a eucalyptus bench for the garden behind the Storrs House at 697 Longmeadow Street. The historic Richard Salter Storrs house, built in 1786, is the home of the historical society.

The gardeners recognized a need for seating so people could enjoy the lovely gardens, which is maintained by another local gardening group, the Longmeadow Gardeners. There will be a brief ceremony on Aug. 25 at 2 p.m. at the Storrs house to thank them for their gift and to dedicate it to the use and enjoyment of all who visit the Storrs House Garden. The dedication ceremony is free and the public is invited to attend. Stay tuned for our October Twilight Graveyard Event and fall lecture series.
