LEEF helps purchase 20 laptops for LHS

LONGMEADOW United Bank recently donated $4,000 to the Longmeadow Educational Excellence Foundation (LEEF. The money was applied toward a grant to purchase 20 laptop computers for Longmeadow High School. Lori Robbins, the school's librian, was awarded the $26,144 grant that purchased the computers, a storage cart for the computers, wireless access, color laser printer and a projector.

"These computers transform the classroom into a wireless environment. With just one plug in you have 20 connections to the Internet. Classes are signing them out constantly," Robbins said.

LEEF is a private, non-profit, volunteer organization established to enrich, enhance and support the quality of educaation in the Longmeadow Public Schools. LEEF is committed to underwriting grants in all subject areas to provide the schools, grades K-12, with extraordinary opportunities beyond the scope of tax supported budgets. Since 2001, LEEF has awarded 106 grants totaling $378,048.
