Local author says 'Get Busy Living Or Get Busy Dying'

LONGMEADOW First-time author William Denno of Longmeadow had a two-fold reason to pen his recent book, "Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying."

"I have always wanted to write a book and I thought a motivational book would be a good way to start," Denno said. "The other reason is to raise money to support families dealing with Huntington's disease, a neurological disease similar to Parkinson's."

Denno calls the book "a practical approach to living a more complete, fulfilling life." In that spirit, the pages of his publication are filled with short nuggets of advice and wisdom such as taking the time to relish family members and celebrate the holidays.

His own family having been touched with the weight of this terminal illness, Denno explained that life is too short not to cherish both the big and little moments.

"I just tried to put down on paper what a lot of people think but don't actually say or do," Denno said.

A portion of the profits made from this self-published title will benefit a scholarship fund for other families dealing with the disease. By doing this, Denno believes that he is helping to turn a negative into a positive.

"Education is important to my wife and I," Denno said. "We feel that families who are dealing with this may not be in a position to send their children to college and that a scholarship could help that along."
