Nittoli announces bid for re-election

LONGMEADOW Jim Nittoli, currently a member of the Longmeadow School Committee, has announced his candidacy for a full 3-year term on the School Committee.

Nittoli was appointed to fill a vacancy on the School Committee in June 2004, and presently serves as chair of the committee's Finance Sub-committee. At the time of his appointment to the School Committee, he was a member of the town's Finance Committee.

"Having served on both the School Committee and the town's Finance Committee, I feel I am in a unique position to help the town find common ground and solutions to the many educational and financial challenges facing the town. Longmeadow is a wonderful community," Nittoli said.

"If elected to a full term, I will continue to work to do the following:

Maintain and enhance educational excellence and opportunities for all grades within the Longmeadow School system;

Develop and implement long term financial solutions to the town's school funding problems;

Improve School Department financial management and reporting transparency; and,

Improve communications and working relations between the School Committee and other town boards and departments and the community."

Nittoli said he is also an active and committed youth worker. He has coached boys and girls basketball in the St. Mary's CYO basketball league. He has also been an assistant coach for the Longmeadow High School's golf team that has won the state golf championship the past two years.

Nittoli is a graduate of Stetson University with a degree in accounting. He is presently employed as the head golf professional at the Longmeadow Country Club.
