Storrs Library announces 'Flat Dewey', other programs

LONGMEADOW The Storrs Library invites Longmeadow youth to visit and join their reading program "Going Places @ Your Library" this summer and also join in the following activities and programs.

Pick up your entry form for our Flat Dewey photo contest beginning June 27, through July 11. Take pictures of Flat Dewey on some of your adventures! All entries will be on display in the lobby of the library and prizes will be awarded. Youngsters of all ages are welcome to participate in this creative activity.

Training sessions for our Summer Volunteer program will be held on June 27, for students entering grade 5 through 10. Please register in advance for a time slot.

See The U. S. A., a storytime and craft program with the librarian and our summer readers will take place on June 28, from 10 10:30 a.m. for children age 2- 5 and their parents. Free tickets are available a week in advance of the event.

Take part in our scavenger hunt on June 29. Pick up your list anytime after 10:30 a.m., this is a timed event for the whole family. Explore Longmeadow and your neighborhood with your family and friends. All scavenger hunt items must be returned by July 1.

Come and play Beach Blanket Bingo for grade 1-5. Bring your beach towel or blanket on June 30, from 11:30 12:30 p.m., rain or shine. Prizes will be awarded to winners, call the library to register.

Our first weekly raffle for Going Places @ Your Library reading program will be on July 1, at 2:30 p.m. everyone is welcome to attend. Weekly programs for youngsters

Weekly programs for youngsters of all ages are being offered this summer at the Storrs Library in Longmeadow. Children are invited to join Going Places @ Your Library our reading program by visiting the Philip Michael Lauro II Discovery Room to add their name to our list.

Reading throughout the summer will take them on wonderful adventures they will never forget.

Some of the activities and programs that will take place the first week in July are Tuesday through Friday, beginning July 5, "Crafts on the Go" are available. Pick up your craft packet to take, make, and explore at home. Youngsters of all ages can participate.

On Tuesday, entry forms for our model car contest will be available. Take the challenge and invent a car. Entries should be returned by July 18. Kids of all ages are invited to use their imagination and creative abilities. Prizes will be awarded.

Take a reading adventure with Sail Away! a Storytime and craft program on July 5, from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. especially for preschoolers age's two to five. Toddlers and their parents may take part in this program where our Summer Readers and the Assistant Youth Service Librarian will read

stories and enjoy a craft activity.

Come in your pajamas and bring your Teddies to Pajama Storytime for the whole family on July 6, from 7 7:30 p.m. No registration is required for this drop- in program.

Ed The Wizard performs his magic for children three and older, and their parents on July 7, from 11:30 to 12:15 p.m. Free tickets are available in the Philip Michael Lauro II Discovery Room one week in advance of the magic show.

Our Going Places @ your Library Weekly Raffle for all participants in the summer reading program will be held on Friday, July 8, at 2:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.
