LONGMEADOW -- Bari Jarvis, director of the Parks and Recreation Department is hoping residents will come out on June 15 to give their input on what should be done with the clay tennis courts at Bliss Park.

The forum, which will include a PowerPoint presentation showing pictures of the area and reuse suggestions collected in a 2009 public survey, will take place at 7 p.m. in the Community House auditorium.

"The courts have not been maintained in about four years," Jarvis said. "The area is overgrown and it is unsightly."

She explained that prior to the town adopting its revised charter, Parks and Rec. maintained the courts. Under the new structure, maintenance was transferred to the Department of Public Works but no money was allocated for upkeep.

She said public input gathered at the forum would be combined with the results of the survey and the most feasible suggestions will be presented to the Select Board.

Individuals who have suggestions for the courts who can't attend the meeting should e-mail their input to Jarvis at bjarvis@longmeadow.org .
