Board of Health announces $600 grant to start a Sharp Needle Disposal Program

GRANBY The Granby Board of Health is pleased to announce the reciept of a $600 grant from the Springfield Materials Recycling Facility to start a Sharp Needle Disposal Program. Residents of Granby may pick up a Sharps container, free of charge, at the following locations:

The Center Pharmacy, 242 State Street

Phin's Hill Community Building, 111 West State State Street

Granby Fire Department, 250 State Street.

When the gallon containers are full, the residents may return them to any of the three facilities and pick up another container. We encourage all residents to avail themselves of this opportunity to safely disposed of needles in a safe, effective manner at no cost.

Too often report of needles disposed in the landfill or recycling center injure the waste workers. For more information, please call the Board of Health at 467-7174.
