GRANBY A "Cookie Walk" and a visit from Santa Claus are among the highlights of the annual Holiday Bazaar at Church of Christ on Dec. 2.

If you're looking for a handmade gift for someone during the holiday season, visitors will find a lot to choose from, according to church member Eleanor Silsby, who serves as publicity chair.

Silsby noted during an interview with The Chicopee Herald that in addition to the traditional handmade mittens, scarves and hats that will be offered for sale, an array of gift items will also be available. In addition, a large selection of books for all ages will range in price from 10 cents for children's books to paperbacks for 25 cents and hardcovers ranging from $1 to $3. Also, used CD's and videotapes will be on sale.

Area residents looking for decorating ideas for their homes will also find fresh trimmed wreaths available, and what bazaar wouldn't be complete without home-baked treats including pies, muffins and cookies.

For persons with a sweet tooth, you won't want to miss the church's popular Cookie Walk, which is conducted in a separate room and is filled with more than 20 varieties of cookies baked by parishioners. Participants are given a container and may fill it up with the cookies of one's choice.

A "New To You" Booth is also planned which features new items that are donated by church members.

"We never know what's going to be on sale," said Silsby.

Santa Claus will also be available for photos from 10 a.m. to noon and is expected to hand out goodie bags to children.

Coffee, tea and muffins will be available in the morning, followed by a luncheon after 11:30.

A raffle rounds out the day's events and will feature at least six prizes, including a handmade quilt, according to Silsby.

The Holiday Bazaar will take place in the Parish House from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
