Library hosts activities for all ages

GRANBY The Granby Public Library has announced the following programs:

The Friends of the Granby Public Library will be holding their annual fall Book & Bake Sale on Sept. 23 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on the front lawn of the library. Book lovers will be able to choose from a large assortment of used and like-new books. Hardcover books are $1, paperback books are 50 cents and like-new hardcover books are $3. We will also be offering used videos, audios and more. Rain date will be Sept. 30. Call the library at 467-3320 for more info.

The Friends of Granby Elderly is sponsoring a bus trip on Oct. 12 to Meredith, New Hampshire and enjoying a ride on the scenic HoBo Railroad along Lake Winnipesaukee. During the train ride, Harts Restaurant will serve their famous turkey dinner. After, we will tour the gift shop and then return to Granby. The fee include the bus ride, train ride, and the turkey dinner. The bus departs from Granby Senior Center at 6:30 a.m. and returns about 5:30 p.m. For info or to make a reservation call the Granby Council on Aging at 467-3239.

Preschoolers, younger siblings and caregivers are welcome to join in on the fun Sept. 15, 22, 29 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Granby Library. Story times are held every Friday morning throughout the school year with some dates excluded (check library calendar). Preschool Storytimes are part playtime, part story time, movement, songs, a story, art activity and include a snack. Younger children who are not ready to sit for a story may play quietly along side those who do.

Due to the successful turnout this summer the library will continue Playgroup Times. Playgroup Times will be switched to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays. Attendees may drop in and leave at any time. The Granby Library is very child friendly with a lower level Children's Room stocked with books and toys for all ages. A playgroup is a get-together of parents and children for socializing and play. The children are babies and young children who are not yet old enough to be in school, however home schoolers are most welcome. All library programs are provided free of charge.

The Granby Library is located on Route 202 in the town center. Library hours are Tues., Wed., Fri., 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m., and Sat., 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Call 467-3320 for more information
