Drive to benefit Warming Place

SPRINGFIELD The 16 Acres Civic Association, in conjunction with Church in the Acres, will sponsor a drive to benefit the Warming Place.

"We're looking for blankets, toiletries, socks, and winter clothes. It does not have to be new, just useable," said 16 Acres Civic Association President Clodo Concepcion. "[We're also collecting] tooth paste, deodorant, and towels."

Concepcion said monetary donations will also be accepted and that any contributions will be tax deductible. Checks can be made out to the Warming Place and marked at the bottom in care of 16 Acres Civic Association or Church in the Acres.

Concepcion said this drive was inspired by a recent trip he took with Mayor Charles Ryan and other local dignitaries to Providence, RI where he learned about their programs for persons in need.

Items for the Warming Place can be dropped off at Church in the Acres, 1383 Wilbraham Road.
