SPRINGFIELD — Open Pantry Community Services Inc. will be hosting its annual Christmas Meal on Dec. 25 at the High School of Commerce located at 415 State St. in Springfield. Doors will open at 11 a.m. and the meal will be served at noon.

The Holiday Meals Program is not supported by grants or contracts and is dependent on the financial generosity of the public. "Volunteers as well as financial donations are crucial in making our holiday meals program possible," said Open Pantry Director Allison Maynard.

Volunteers are needed to help with: preparing food deliveries, serving dinner, and helping with clean-up. Volunteers are especially needed to deliver meals to people who are elderly, infirm or physically challenged in Springfield. Approximately 700 people who are homebound are expected to request meals from Open Pantry on Christmas Day.

If you are interested in volunteering, call 737-5337. Financial donations may be sent to Open Pantry Community Services Inc., PO Box 5127, Springfield, MA 01101-5127 and are greatly appreciated.
