Prime Living Senior Expo returns to MGM casino Aug. 27

Date: 8/15/2023

SPRINGFIELD — Have you hit that point in life when you’re wondering what’s next? If so, Prime Magazine, Reminder Publishing and The Reminder’s sister publication, The Republican, have come together to provide an opportunity for you to find the information, inspiration and answers you need for aging well.

The second annual Prime Living Senior Expo is slated for Aug. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Aria Ballroom of the MGM casino, 1 MGM Way, in downtown Springfield. Admission to the expo, and parking in the MGM garage, are both free. To get a free advance tickets to the Prime Living Senior Expo and bypass the onsite prize drawing registration, visit primelifeexpo.com. Tickets will also be available at the door. All registered attendees will have their names entered into a raffle for the grand prize drawing for a 2023 CP-3 three-wheel electric trike scooter from expo exhibitor Amped Up Electric.

More than 2,500 people attended the first-ever Prime Living Senior Expo last August to take advantage of one-stop-shopping for information on everything from financial planning to travel, to fitness and learning in later life, and this year promises to have even more opportunities to get the lowdown on making the most of your years.

“This is our second Prime Life Expo and we are excited to be back at MGM with exhibitors and entertainment for our 55 and up community,” said Gretchen Halasi-Kun, director of human resources and business development for The Republican and a member of the expo planning team. “This is a great opportunity to explore travel, home improvement, residential living options and medical and financial services. We had a fabulous turnout of both exhibitors and attendees last year and we are looking forward to another great event.”

Popular entertainment is also returning for a second year at the Prime Living Senior Expo. Throughout the morning, expo attendees will be able to get in a boost-your-flexibility stretch with yoga instructor Lynn McCarthy. A longtime yoga, pilates and aerobics instructor with the West Springfield Parks and Recreation Department, McCarthy told Reminder Publishing she is planning multiple short stretching sessions from 10 a.m. to noon, adapted to the abilities of those who stop to participate. She said there will even be an opportunity to do some chair yoga if that’s what fits the crowd at that session.

In the afternoon, prepare to be dazzled by the talented members of the Cameo Club, returning for an encore performance at this year’s expo. The show, which features former contestants and past queens from the Ms. Massachusetts Senior America pageant, is slated to start at 1 p.m. and this year, there will be ample seating for the audience. You won’t want to miss the performance these women, all over the age of 60, are preparing for expo attendees. Last year they really rocked the house!
