Welcome to Springfield

Date: 11/18/2009

City Councilors Clodo Concepcion, Zaida Luna, Melvin Edwards and Timothy Allen, State Reps. Angelo Puppolo, Sean Curran, Don Humason and Rosemary Sandlin, Congressman Richard Neal, State Sen. Stephen Buoniconti and Mayor Domenic Sarno all joined former Mayor William Sullivan at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the William C. Sullivan Tourist Information Center inside the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Monday. Mary Kay Wydra, president of the Greater Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the center will help those visiting the city "see more things, stay more days and spend more dollars."

"At eight years old, I had a dream I'd be enshrined in the Hall of Fame," Sullivan joked. "I still have that dream. Today, I don't think I could get any closer."

The center will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
