On July 5, the public will get their chance to see Springfield's entry into the national contest to bring the premiere of "The Simpson Movie" to the city. The showing will be at 7 p.m. at the Hippodrome on Main Street as part of a "campaign rally," to motivate people to vote for entry. The video which garners the most vote nation-wide will receive the premiere and the distinction of being "the" Springfield. Voting will take place on-line at www.thesimpsons.usatoday.com. There are no restrictions about the number of times a person can vote for their favorite video.

The video is an all-volunteer production utilizing many of the film production companies and personnel in the area. Seen to the right are some popular characters and the lead performer in the video, Matty Blake.
