WEST SPRINGFIELD The Senior Center honored all the town's couples who have been married 50 years or more with a luncheon and dance held on May 18 at the Best Western Hotel.

Music was provided by Ritchie Mitnick and Friends and a speech was made by Mayor Edward Gibson.

Reverend Bob Smith of the Bible Baptist Church did a renewal of vows.

A special acknowledgement was made by former sportscaster Rollie Jacobs to couples married over 60 years.

The record holders, William and Connie McCombe, were married on October 12, 1939.

The secrets to a lasting marriage you ask?

"Just fight and get it over with," Gladys Rolandini married to her husband, John for 54 years said.

"Get along and be patient with one another," said Dot Richards married to her husband Bill for 64 years.

"We still love one another as much as ever, we've been lucky," she said.

"Do what you want," Mary Schultski, married to Edward for 60 years in October said.
