WEST SPRINGFIELD — At the Aug. 28 School Committee meeting, members unanimously voted, to offer athletic passes to spectators for West Springfield High School home events, available in time for the first home game Sept. 5.

Previously, only single-game admission tickets were available for purchase. Passes are available for the fall sports, which include football, boys' and girls' soccer, and field hockey evening games; for winter sports, which include boys' and girls' basketball and wrestling; or both.

Single season passes are $25 for students and $30 for adults. Full year passes cost $40 for students and $50 for adults. Excluded events from the passes are the Thanksgiving Day football game, all tournament contests, ice hockey games and indoor track meets.

"We hope to get much more family engagement in our events, by offering the passes," Dr. Russell Johnston, Superintendent of Schools, said. "We want to see more of our home crowd."

Committee member Patricia Garbacik said, "I appreciate the idea — much work was done researching other towns."

Passes are available for purchase in the main office of West Springfield High School, during school hours from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., or call 263-3400 for an appointment.
