New director is hired for Collaborative

WEST SPRINGFIELD As of July 1, Anne S. McKenzie was appointed at Lower Pioneer Valley Educational Collaborative (LPVEC) as the new executive director.

"I am excited by the opportunity to work with the people here at the LPVEC. It has an exceptional staff and we offer great programs here," McKenzie said to Reminder Publications.

The LPVEC opened the school year on Aug. 30 and responds to a member district schedule.

"1 am working closely with the people and the community to decide what decisions to go forward with," McKenzie said.

Formerly the principal at West Springfield High School, McKenzie said that she believes in the programs that the collaborative offers.

"It is different. I am firmly committed to education and this was an opportunity for me to apply my skills about something that I feel very passionate about vocation, and special education," she said.

The LPVEC serves Agawam, East Longmeadow, Hampden/ Wilbraham, Longmeadow, Ludlow,

Southwick-Tolland and West Springfield. It offers vocational and special education programs.

"We are as responsive as we can be to our member districts that serves a wide range of students from five years of age to 22 years," McKenzie said.
