Partners opens temporary location at The Cup

Date: 6/26/2015

WEST SPRINGFIELD – In a word, Sue Tansey is “happy.”

She’s happy to be back doing what she loves, serving the community at Partners Restaurant at a temporary location. She’s happy to begin to move forward from the electrical fire that destroyed the Feeding Hills staple. She’s happy to move closer to its reopening.

But until then, Tansy and her husband Mark have set up shop at the former Cup on Westfield Street in West Springfield. Partners at The Cup opened its doors at the temporary location on June 15, and in its first days, loyal customers have already come flooding through its doors.

“It feels great, so great. It’s so wonderful to see our customers – old customers, new customers,” Tansey said. “They’re just so happy that we’re back.”

Sue and Mark signed a six-month lease in January of this year after the September 2014 fire forced the restaurant out of its Feeding Hills location. The landlord of the former property is in the process of rebuilding so Partners can return to its original home, Tansey said.

Though they will be extending the lease for the West Springfield location, Tansey said they are hopeful to be back in Feeding Hills in the fall.    “It’s been a long road,” Tansey said.

As the rebuilding began for the original home of Partners, the new location needed some work, as well. Tansey said they had to “build up the whole place.” Now, after its opening, Partners has the homey, warm décor that its loyal customers have grown accustomed to and has already attracted new patrons.

While Tansey’s team is still getting used to its new environment and “working out the kinks,” she said it is a fresh start with familiar faces. Most of her staff has returned to Partners at the Cup.

“They were thrilled to be back to work. I can’t tell you how happy we are to be back serving customers,” Tansey said. “We have had phone calls every week. A lot of people need that hometown place where they get that comfort and warmth. We’ve gotten really close to our customers. It’s a great feeling.”
