Taste is a winner

WEST SPRINGFIELD The 6th Annual WestSide's Taste on the Common, which took place June 9 through the 12 at West Springfield's Town Common was a win-win event.

According to the event's organizers, not only were it a successfully-run Taste, attendance was up over last year, and the changes made worked out well especially the addition of opening on Thursday.

The winner of the $1000-value necklace donated by Hannoush Jewelers was Russ Corkum of West Springfield.

This year's recipient of the Best Restaurant Booth Award went to Pintu's, also of West Springfield.

Taking prizes at the Cruise Night antique auto exhibit were the following car owners: Bill Cove of West Springfield (honorable mention), Howard Bernard of West Springfield (3rd place), Michelle Greaves of Easthampton (2nd place), Tom Piccoli of Southwick (1st place), and John Kunasek of Feeding Hills (best of show). Kunasek's auto was a 1978 black and gold Pontiac Trans Am.

Also winners were all of the West Springfield non-profit agencies that will benefit from the profits of The Taste.

The largest group of winners was the community as a whole, with the Rotary Club and the Town giving the residents and neighbors a great big party.

WestSide's Taste was sponsored by Westbank, along with day sponsors Bertera Cars & Trucks, AAA of Pioneer Valley, and Cabot Creamery.
