WEST SPRINGFIELD — After Michele Cabral's resignation late last month, the town seeks candidates to fill her position as Economic Development administrator.

Cabral also served as Emergency Management director, but according to Mayor Gregory Neffinger, no applicants are being sought for that position at this time. Cabral resigned last month due to undisclosed personal reasons.

"We're already receiving resumes," Neffinger said. "I hope to fill the vacancy within the next four to six weeks. The ideal candidate would have an economic development background, preferably having worked with municipalities."

Neffinger explained that he hasn't decided if the second position will be filled immediately, citing budgeting and the work experience of candidates as factors in the decision.

He continued, "Losing Michele was unfortunate, but we have to keep moving along. There are other people whose skill set will suite the needs of the town [as well as Cabral's did]."
