SOUTHWICK In this year's CMP Technology's VARBusiness Magazine's Top 500 List of Technology Integrators in North America, local company Whalley Computer Associates, a computer hardware and software reseller and system integrator business, jumped from 289th to 251st.

"The companies on the VARBusiness 500 list play critical roles in providing the proper IT strategies and systems to corporations and institutions to help drive business forward," Robert DeMarzo, editorial director of CMP Channel said. "We congratulate them on their success."

According to information released by CMP Channel, the list is comprised of the "500 companies that are leading revenue producers among solution provider organizations in North America."

For Paul Whalley, vice president of Whalley Computer Associates, the 38-spot-jump in ranking is "a reflection of the investment we put this year into the number of customer service programs that we established."

The company, which he stated in an interview with Reminder Publications, sells computer technology equipment and provides technological assistance to companies both large and small. Whalley Computer Associates also sells calling plans and local Internet services.

"There are about 120,000 companies that do that," Whalley said in reference to the services that the company provides. "No one is jumping up and down saying that they're 251st, but when you are in the top one percent that is not a bad thing."

Whalley went on to explain several of the services that the company provides like the Remote Network Services, which allows them to monitor business computer systems so that "they don't crash." This allows technicians to repair problems via the Internet, he added, rather than deploying technicians to the business itself.

"This provides faster, lower-cost services and has been well received by small businesses," Whalley said.

In order to provide services for larger businesses, Whalley stated that the company specializes in refurbishing technology such as updating old cash registers and computers for locations all over the country.

Recently Whalley Business Associates has provided technology upgrades for Brooks and Eckerd Pharmacies and TJ Maxx. The company has partners all over the country, Whalley stated, within 30 minutes of each location and they ship them the equipment for installation. This eliminates the travel expenses, he added.

Currently the company locally employs 150 people, Whalley said, including 80 technicians, and 26 engineers with 75 different specializations and certifications.

According to Whalley, as for the coming year the company is going to continue with the existing programs because they are "fairly new, have fueled growth and have a lot more potential."
