| WESTFIELD- In order to ensure public safety and convenience, some temporary parking and traffic restrictions will be placed into effect. Free parking will be allowed in the Westfield State College commuter lot and South lot. No public parking at the WSC administration building at 333 Western Ave. Free parking at the Second Congregational Church, 487 Western Ave. Free on-street parking will be allowed on all surrounding side streets unless posted otherwise per order of the Chief of Police. Cars must be parked legally and not blocking intersections or driveways. There will be No Parking allowed anywhere along Western Ave. In order to preserve public safety and convenience, illegally parked cars are subject to parking tickets and towing as directed by police officers. Handicapped parking will be allowed in Stanley Park at the tennis court entrance. Vehicles must display a handicap placard or plate to use this entrance. No other vehicles will be allowed in any Stanley Park gate without an authorized pass issued by the park. At 8:45 PM, Western Ave. will be closed to through traffic at Loring Lane for westbound traffic, and at Overlook Dr. for eastbound traffic. This encompasses the entire area in front of Stanley Park with short extensions in each direction. Drop Off and Pick Up of passengers in front of Stanley Park is greatly discouraged due to the disruption caused to the high volume of traffic. However, in the event that the dropping off of passengers is absolutely necessary, drivers are instructed to park in the South Lot across from Juniper Park School. Specialized Traffic Flow All persons parking west of Stanley Park, on the north side of Western Av.(college side) will be directed to turn right out of their parking lots. All persons parking west of the park and on the south side (park side) will also be directed to turn right out of their parking lots or side streets. Therefore only people parked on the south side of Western Av. will be able to go eastbound and pick up anyone dropped off in front of the park. |
