WESTFIELD The first bridal fair to take place in Westfield has arrived.

Hosted by Tanya Costigan of T's Beads, "Brides & Beyond. The Day of the Diva" will take place on Sept. 7. Entry to the fair, which will feature 25 vendors, is free. The fair will be taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Genesis Spiritual Life & Conference Center at 53 Mill St. and will offer various products and services from the wedding industry.

"The Genesis [Center] itself is open to all walks of life, beliefs, religions, people, etc., and that was very important to me. Diversity," Costigan, host of the fair, commented.

Some vendors include Formal Affair Tuxedos in West Springfield, Simplicity Salons, Whip City Cakes, Peppermill Catering and more. Costigan's partner, Kevin Kousch, is formerly of Yale Genton and now runs Formal Affair Tuxedo. Kousch and Formal Affair Tuxedos will be raffling off a complete set of five tuxedo rentals for a bridal party. Simplicity Salons will be raffling off a hair cut or style during the day.

"Other area fairs charge the brides and public just to enter the door. This is free. Also, included in the vendors and artisans that are signed up for the fair are local people who have great things to offer, but cannot afford the cost of doing the larger fairs. This is also the only bridal fair in Westfield that I know of, which is exciting," Costigan said.

The fair will take place in the center's Carriage House. Built in 1889, it's beautiful and historic.

"It would make a great location for a wedding," Costigan commented.

Costigan plans on making the venue bigger and better in coming years.

"This is either going to be annual or bi-annual," Costigan said.
