WILBRAHAM The Wilbraham Junior Women's Club (WJWC) hosted its most recent meeting on May 20 at 7 p.m. in the Senior Center at the Scantic Valley YMCA on Boston Rd.

Kristin Mazzuca, a board member for the Dress for Success program, spoke at the meeting. She discussed the program along with the approaching Project Homeless Connect, an event to take place on June 6 from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Mass Mutual Center in downtown Springfield.

"We help women make the transition into the workforce," Mazzuca said of the organization. "We are desperately looking for volunteers, particularly women with experience, to be role models."

Dress for Success has been asked to participate in the Project Homeless Connect. Mazzuca said, "The Project is an intensive one day event that provides the homeless with resources crucial to achieving stability." She said it first took place in Springfield last August, and had about 80 providers and agencies and about 150 volunteers. "The Google effort," Mazzuca explained, "started in San Francisco, and cities throughout the country are coming together to help the homeless people."

According to Mazzuca, there is a variety of services for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. "I am going to be telling [the Junior Women] about Dress for Success, what we do, how we do it, and letting them know what it is," Mazzuca stated. She also intended to inform the women of the need for volunteers for Project Homeless Connect and how it is run through Dress for Success.

Executive board member of the WJWC, Sarah Lloyd, said that their mission is to serve women, and it is a women-based organization. When asked why they were coordinating with the Dress for Success program, Lloyd explained that Dress for Success decided to become involved with Project Homeless Connect, and they needed volunteers to help at their booth.

"It ties in beautifully with the mission of the organization, and serves other women," Lloyd concluded. The WJWC is happy to be coordinating with those at Dress for Success.
