Memorial Scholarships awarded at Wilbraham United Church

WILBRAHAM Six young people from Wilbraham were awarded scholarships toward higher education at the June 14 service at Wilbraham United Church.

Sarah Carlyle received two scholarships, the Judith Brown Book Award and the Millicent and Milo Green Memorial Scholarship. She is the daughter of Janet and Michael Carlyle and plans to study art and photography at the University of Hartford.

Ashley Erickson, daughter of John and Carol Erickson, was awarded the Eleanor and Frederick Cohn Memorial Scholarship. She is a student at Holyoke Community College, where she is enrolled in pre-health studies.

Michael Lynch, son of William and Ann Lynch, received the Gordon S. and Robertine Fountain Memorial Scholarship. He plans to study business and accounting at Westfield State College.

Justin Orr is the recipient of the John W. Byam Memorial Scholarship. He will study engineering at Western New England College. He is the son of Margaret and David Orr.

Samuel Pierangelo, the son of Joyce and David Pierangelo, was awarded the Albert and Rachel Howes Memorial Scholarship. He will attend the University of Buffalo to study mechanical engineering.

Katie Stiefel received two scholarships, the Lee Greenway Flathers and Joan H. Neelans Memorial Scholarships. She will attend Illinois Wesleyan University, majoring in music in vocal performance. She is the daughter of Joseph and Connie Stiefel.

Scholarship committee members were Judith Hoffman, chairperson, Amy Crocker and Paul Nesbit.
