Third quarter tax bills, absentee ballot requests due

WILBRAHAM -- Real estate tax bills for the third quarter of fiscal year 2010 have been mailed to property owners and are due on or by Feb. 1.

Payment may be made in person at the Collector's Office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Mon. through Fri.

Payments may also be mailed to Town of Wilbraham Collector's Office, 240 Springfield St., Wilbraham, MA 01095.

In addition, the town also offers a direct debit program where payments are withdrawn from your checking or savings account on the date the payment is due. For more information on this service, call 596-2800 ext. 206.

Please submit the remittance stub with your payment. Reminder: when you are using your online bank service, state that you are paying a real estate tax bill and note the bill number in the memo section to ensure proper credit to your account.

Tax bills not paid by the due date are subject to a 14 percent interest charge. If there are any questions, please call 596-2800 ext. 206.

Town Clerk Beverly J. Litchfield has announced that absentee ballot for the upcoming special state election scheduled for Jan. 19 are now available in her office for those voters who will be absent from the town during polling hours, have physical disabilities which will prevent them from going to the polls to vote, or who cannot attend the polls during voting hours because of religious belief.

A request in writing is required for obtaining an absentee ballot. Call 596-2800, ext. 200 if you have any questions.

Absentee ballots will be available until 5 p.m. on Jan. 15.
