AGAWAM — Friends of the family of 28-year-old former Feeding Hills resident Eric Hogan, who died June 19 while on his honeymoon, are hosting a benefit on Aug. 7 to help the family purchase a stone for their son’s grave

The event, which will feature a buffet dinner, cash bar, raffles and music, will take place from 2 to 7 p.m. at the American Legion, 46 Powder Mill Rd., in Southwick.

Tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple and can be purchased by calling Sarah Day at 209-8044.

The deadline for tickets is Aug. 3, to organizers can properly plan food for the event.

Day, who knew Hogan and his family through Saturday night karaoke sessions at the American Legion, said she and the other karaoke fans wanted to find a way to help in the wake of the family’s tragedy.

“We just wanted to give this benefit because we love them and they are part of our family,” Day said.

A newspaper report on Hogan’s death said he drowned while kayaking in Frenchman Bay, off Bar Harbor, Maine, on the last day of his honeymoon.

He married the former Sarah Kellogg on May 28.
