AGAWAM — At its Oct. 18 meeting, the Planning Board unanimously approved the site plan for Six Flags of New England's "Down Under" waterslide ride, which is slated for a 2013 grand opening.

"This was the second time the plan went before the Planning Board," Deborah Dachos, director of Planning and Community Development, said. "The board had questions regarding the drainage of the ride. All engineering comments have been addressed."

Hurricane Harbor will house the ride that will feature a 65-foot tall waterslide complex composed of six 257-foot waterslides, which park-goers will be dropped into via a trap door mechanism.
