AGAWAM Anthony C. Bonavita officially announced his candidacy for Agawam School Committee recently.

"I am running for the vacant seat on the School Committee to be a positive voice for education. I am proud of the Town of Agawam and its school system," he said. "Both of my children graduated from Agawam High School and went on to college. Agawam is a great place to live. It has been good to my family and I want to contribute to our community by doing everything I can for the children of Agawam.

"I truly believe my life experience will be an asset to the School Committee. My pledge is to work as a team member with the Mayor, School Administration, School Committee and City Council to achieve the highest goals for Agawam's children."

Bonavita offers his qualifications and background to the voters.

He served on the School Budget Subcommittee of the City Council and served two terms on the council. Also while on the council, he voted for funding for the expansions of the high school library and public library.

"While on the council I gained valuable experience which I believe will assist me on the school committee," he said.
