AGAWAM The official groundbreaking ceremony took place late last month at the site of a new medical and professional facility, Agawam Crossing, which is expected to house two undisclosed "major players" within the medical field.

The identity of the two "major players" that are planning to move into the building, located on Silver Street, requested that they remain anonymous for now, according to Travis Ward, operations manager for Development Associates, the development company in charge of the project.

The building will provide modern upscale service for regional medical professionals and specialists that want to expand their base, Ward added.

The building is a two story structure with offices ranging in size from 300 to 20,000 square feet, with the opportunity for a free-standing bank on the corner of the property, according to information released by Development Associates.

"I am pleased that this building will bring professional people into Agawam and the potential of small retail at the intersection," Richard Cohen, mayor of Agawam said in an interview with Reminder Publications. "Ken Vincunas [General Manager of Development Associates and co-owner of the property] is known for doing a wonderful job with development projects and I'm glad to have him continue his work in Agawam."

The projected completion date for the project is December 2007 so that occupants may move in during the early months of 2008, Ward stated.
