AGAWAM- A teenager from Feeding Hills has earned the Gold Award, the highest honor granted to a girl by Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. Stephanie Pacitti organized "Mom & Me Yoga Days" to garner support for the Cancer House of Hope and its programs. Stephanie provided yoga lessons to people in the community, educating them about the benefits from the practice of yoga to everyone even those in cancer treatment. She used the funds raised from the sessions to provide much needed equipment for the Cancer House of Hope in Springfield. Stephanie, a junior at Agawam High School, was inspired by her mom, a cancer survivor. To earn the Gold Award, a Girl Scout demonstrates that she has mastered the principles of Girl Scouting, that she has become a person of "courage, confidence and character who will make the world a better place." Relatively few of the eligible Girl Scouts nation-wide earn the Girl Scout Gold Award each year. They are acknowledged by many governmental, national and local organizations.
