AGAWAM DAY Agawam residents and city officials celebrated Agawam Day at The Big E on Sept. 24. Mayor Susan Dawson led the Agawam Day Parade, which ushered hundreds of Agawam students, athletes and educators throughout the fairgrounds. Senior Center Director Joan Linnehan walked in the parade, sporting Agawam orange as she led the Council on Aging contingent. "I'm very excited to be celebrating my first year as mayor at The Big E," Dawson said, adding that she was very excited to be leading the parade.

"It's always an honor to be recognized by our neighbor [West Springfield]," City Councilor Cecilia Calabrese, said at the event. "The Big E is just as much a part of Agawam as it is West Springfield." She noted that returning to The Big E each year has become a family tradition in her household.

Eighty-year-old Agawam resident James Amabile said he returns to the fair every year for the food and to celebrate Agawam Day with the other residents from the Senior Center.
