Friends to sell French Meat Pies and travel the globe

AGAWAM The Friends of the Agawam Senior Center had their first board meeting to start the 2007 year on Jan. 3. They discussed upcoming events.

On Jan. 10 Joan Linnehan Director of the Center and Jack Conway of the Friends will be locked-up at the Federal Hill Club. They are asking that donations be made to "spring" them. Proceeds will go towards the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation. They are seeking $5 minimum donations.

The next trip to the Mohegan Sun will take place Jan.22; a trip to the California coast line will take place March 8; a trip to Alaska Aug. 25; a lobster bash July 24 $68 p/p; and an Italian Fest Oct. 11 $61 p/p.

There will be French Meat Pies for sale on Jan. 26. A Meat Pie dinner will take place at the Center. If one is interested in just ordering the pie they must preorder by calling 821-0605 and can pick-up their pie on Jan. 26. It is $8 per pie or tickets for the dinner can be purchased for $10. The dinner will be Jan. 26 5-7 p.m. If interested in volunteering call the Center. There will also be a three-way raffle.

There will be a Murder Mystery Dinner on Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m. dinner will be served followed with a performance by the actors.

There are Bargain Books for sale at the front desk of the Senior Center for $10. Proceeds from the sale go to benefiting the Friends.

Shoe shine kits are also available for $1.

There will be another can and bottle drive on March 3 but the date is tentative. The goal is $6,000 and they feel it can be reached.

There will be a Corn Beef Dinner at the Center on March 8 and a pancake breakfast on April 15.
