By Lori O'Brien, Correspondent AGAWAM The manicured lawn of the Heritage Woods Assisted Living Community on Main Street will come alive with swing music on June 21 for a Fabulous Forties Festival. The annual event is free and open to the public, however, those attending are requested to bring a nonperishable food donation to benefit the Open Pantry. "It's a great time for everyone of all ages," said Nicole Wallace, Assistant Marketing Director, who spoke with Reminder Publications. "There's music, dancing, and free bottled water, popcorn and cotton candy. It's just a fun event." Activities begin at 5 p.m., and include balloon sculptures by Funny Face, face paintings by volunteers, and free refreshments. In addition, tours of the Heritage Hall Centers and Heritage Woods Assisted Living Community will be offered. "Visitors can choose which building(s) they want to see," said Wallace, adding, "our staff will be dressed alike, so visitors can approach one of us to ask for a tour." The main attraction for the evening is a concert by the 19-piece swing band Memories, who will perform music classics from the 1930's and 1940's from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Persons attending the festival are reminded to bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on. In the event of rain, the festival is planned at the same time on June 22. For more information, call Heritage Woods at (413) 789-8332. |
