North St. construction rescheduled

Date: 1/30/2015

AGAWAM – The construction on North St. originally scheduled for Jan. 26 through Jan. 30 has been pushed back a week because of inclement weather.

According to Walter McCormick, the project manager from Baltazar Construction, construction will begin Feb. 2 at 7 a.m. and continue through the end of the business day on Feb. 6.

Part of North St., between Colemore St. and North Westfield St., will be closed to through traffic and only residents will be given access. There will be a detour around the closed off area, so the town of Agawam has asked citizens to plan accordingly. This section will be closed for 24 hours a day until construction is completed.

The road is being closed as part of an excavation. The decision to postpone construction was made early on Jan. 26, but the construction company still worked on that day, laying approximately 100 feet of pipe before securing the site for the remainder of the week.
