AGAWAM The Agawam chapter of Rotary International recently awarded their prestigious "Service Above Self" award to a local community leader who has shown herself to be an asset to the community of Agawam. The award is given to someone who has shown themselves to put others needs above their own including their time, knowledge and expertise and use of these tools for the betterment of the community. Patricia Souder was recently awarded this honor by past Agawam Rotary President Kathy Ayer and current Agawam Rotary President David Delancy. The award was given to Sounder based on her time and efforts used in Agawam community involvement both past and present. She was the chairwoman for fundraising activities for the city's Sesquicentennial event in 2005. She also was the coordinator for the event's parade. Souder is currently a member of the Agawam Cultural Council and is very instrumental in working on the council's "Summerfest" events. She co-chairs the committee with Mike Granfield. Ms. Souder will be putting together the kickoff event for Summerfest on July 1. Souder resides in Agawam and is a computer systems analyst for Mass Mutual. The Agawam chapter of Rotary is very pleased to give this award to such a deserving community leader. |
